Our School
Welcome to Logan County High School where we are committed to meeting the needs of each one of our 1,050 students each day. The cornerstone of LCHS is fostering mutually beneficial relationships that support our students, their families, and the greater community.
Our staff members provide numerous opportunities for students as we work collaboratively to help them meet their goals and prepare for their next steps after high school. Beginning well before incoming ninth-graders arrive on campus from one of the five-county PS – 8 schools, we communicate the expectations and build excitement for students entering our Freshman Academy.
Throughout their high school careers, our students are involved in challenging coursework focused on engaging, hands-on learning. A considerable portion of the skills students gain and the knowledge they acquire takes place outside the traditional classroom setting. We believe that students must be active participants to truly master the skills and knowledge they need to be productive, contributing citizens.
Our current offerings include:
- 15 Advanced Placement (AP) courses across all four core disciplines
- 23 Dual Credit courses from our post-secondary partners - Western Kentucky University, Southern Kentucky Community and Technical College (SKYCTC), Campbellsville University, University of the Cumberlands, Murray State University, and the University of Kentucky
- 24 Career Pathways
- Work-Based Experiences (WBE)
- 26 Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA) sports
- 25+ clubs and organizations
Embedded within all of our courses, work-based experiences, and extracurricular activities is the opportunity for students to reflect upon their development and identify areas and steps for growth through our Profile of Success. Developed collaboratively with K-12 educators, community and business leaders, parents, and students, the five competencies – Collaboration, Global Citizenship, Empowered Learning, Communication, and Innovation – identify the skills and traits students will acquire throughout their four years at LCHS. Students are able to articulate and demonstrate their progress within these attributes through annual presentations.
LCHS receives tremendous support from our community, and we, in turn, are committed to providing our students every opportunity to prepare them for what lies ahead.
